Never publish a contaminant-reduction claim based on a factory's internal test. Reduction claims must come from an accredited lab against a named standard, and US retailers will ask for the certification listing number.

- Housings: food-grade PP or ABS with virgin resin certificates — recycled resin is a common cost-down that causes cracking under pressure
- Pressure rating: burst and cycle testing on housings (typically 10,000 pressure cycles) before approval

Labelling and consumables strategy
Most of the margin in this category is in replacement cartridges. Design the interface early: a proprietary cartridge fit protects recurring revenue, while a standard 10-inch fit makes the system easier to sell. Whichever you choose, lock the tooling ownership in writing before paying for moulds.
Labels must carry the model number, rated capacity, replacement interval, operating pressure and temperature range, and any required certification marks. Check your market's rules on health claims wording — several jurisdictions restrict the word "purifier".
Freight and shelf life
Carbon cartridges absorb odours; ship them sealed in barrier film with desiccant and avoid mixed containers with strong-smelling goods. Wet-test RO membranes have limited shelf life, so confirm production dates and rotate stock.
