Why the region works for paper goods
Thailand and Indonesia both have integrated pulp and paper industries, which means notebooks, packaging and print products can be made close to the raw material. Vietnam adds strong print finishing and hand-assembly for gift and premium stationery.
Specify paper properly
Grammage, brightness, opacity and bulk should all appear in your specification, not just "80gsm white". Ink bleed-through complaints almost always trace back to an unspecified paper grade being substituted between the sample and the production run.
Chain of custody
FSC or PEFC certification must be verified at certificate level, and the claim only holds if every party in the chain including your trading counterparty is certified. EUDR adds due-diligence obligations for pulp-based products entering the EU, so keep the supply-chain evidence with the shipment.
Print and finishing control
Approve a signed physical proof, define Delta-E tolerance for brand colours, and check registration, foil adhesion and binding pull strength at pre-shipment. For spiral and case-bound notebooks, an open-flat test avoids the most frequent returns issue.
