If the part is on your bill of materials as a functional or safety element, build to print and qualify it properly. Save catalogue buying for fasteners, seals and commodity hardware.

The qualification path US OEMs should insist on

  1. Drawing and tolerance review with the factory before quoting.
  2. Sample or soft-tool parts, dimensional report on every controlled feature.
  3. First article inspection with material certs and traceability.
  4. Pilot run of 50–200 pieces, capability data on critical dimensions.
  5. Locked process sheet, then serial production with AQL sampling.

Certification is where programs slip

Electrical and control assemblies need UL, ETL or FCC coverage at the finished-equipment level, and the Thai factory's components must match the file. Confirm which listings transfer and which need re-testing before you tool. Government-adjacent business adds Buy American and TAA tests that no cost model can override.

Where a Thai tier-2 network earns its keep
